Bye-bye Baby...We've got a true Toddler!

We decided to take advantage of the gorgeous fall weather and get Joshua kind of an early Christmas present...his first Tricycle, that he can grow into! It's recommended for 18 months - 4 years old.
For now he's essentially just sitting on the seat with an option to steer a little bit. It has a nice foot rest, since he's still a little shy of the pedals, a roller coaster style "seat belt" that goes around his chest and the handle for an adult to steer/push. As he grows, we can let him pedal himself and eventually lose the seat belt, etc.
However, for Joshua, this is serious business and he goes over to ride his tricycle anytime we step into the entryway (genkan, as it's called in Japanese.)

Joshua continues to relish any chance he has to succeed in feeding himself - and he's indeed getting better. After reaching a 50 - 75% success rate at getting food into his mouth holding his own spoon, he's now trying to master the fork.
Pizza seems to be a favorite lately, udon noodles are still holding a strong place and rice is moving up in popularity
On "Company Day" (Lilly's own holiday), we rode the train to the next city over (Akashi) and had a picnic at the park there.

It's hard to get a scale here, but Jonathan and Joshua are at least one story off the ground on the playground mound. Joshua has no fear and without "adult words" he's clearly trying to convince Daddy, "I know I can climb this. Just let me show you!"
Well, Daddy insisted on holding Joshua's hand, but obliged him and together they climbed down to Mommy.
After all the excitement, Mommy was thankful there was a nice, FLAT, grassy area to run around with the ball before heading home.
